About

Ahh … The ‘About’ page. The page for the curious. And curiosity is good. I’m all for curiosity. Life would be boring without it.

I’m Richard Hoare. I live in Queensland, Australia.

One of my favourite pastimes is driving on back roads and relying on my sense of direction to get to where I’m going. If it’s a dirt road, that is all the better.

Occasionally I take a wrong turn and end up heading in the wrong direction.

As John Muir said:
Of all the paths you take in life, make sure some of them are dirt.

Now, the sensible thing to do would be to turn around and get back on the right track.

But first, I have to see what’s around the next bend and over the next hill. And the next . . . And the next . . .

The internet entices me the same way. Following leads and links to see where they take me. Always something new to explore.

This blog is my record of things I’ve explored. Ideas that have interested and intrigued me. And my thoughts on different topics that my curiosity has led me to.

Most of my writing will relate to my opinion on life and living. And growing and learning. Which means my opinion next month may be different to my current thoughts.

As Sherlock Holmes said: “Education never ends, Watson. It is a series of lessons with the greatest for the last.”

Curiosity. Without it life would be boring.
